Volunteering not only makes a difference in the lives of the beneficiaries but also brings a huge transformation in the volunteer himself/herself. As part of the Global Joy of Giving, we are happy to introduce a volunteering platform. This platform brings you opportunities beyond daily office work, through which we can together impact hundreds of lives.

Things to Know

1. Volunteering is out of your free will and is outside Glenmark’s working hours. The time spent volunteering cannot be claimed as over time or compensated as working hours.
2. While Volunteering is done with good intentions and for social change, always know what your purpose for volunteering is. This helps you to plan and choose the right initiatives to align on.
3. Once clear with the purpose, reach out to the right kind of non-profit partners or social initiatives that align with your vision of creating impact.
4. Ensure you have the right skills and sufficient time to volunteer for a particular task.
5. The lifestyle and standard of living of the beneficiaries will be different than yours. Be sensitive towards their needs, their language and thought process when you are at the volunteering location.
6. No reimbursements will be borne by the company except if the CSR team has directed and pre authorized it.
7. The overall experience of the NGOs and beneficiaries depends on your work reliability and interest, never over commit or take the task leniently.
8. Plan well and execute with complete dedication.

Rewards and Recognition

Every Volunteer will receive a Certificate at the end of financial year. Also, Volunteers will receive a goodie bag each time they achieve the below mentioned milestones.

20 Volunteering hours - Goodie Bag 1
40 Volunteering hours - Goodie Bag 2
60 Volunteering hours - Goodie Bag 3

Note

1) These goodie bags will be given at the end of the quarter in which the milestone was achieved.
2) The milestone can be achieved by volunteering your time in one or more activities.
3) For milestone calculation, the Volunteering hours will reset at the end of financial year.
4) Any volunteering hours given in previous financial will not be counted towards current years milestone.

Don’t’s

1. Don’t back out or ‘postpone’ at the last minute. When you DO commit to an event, plan well; consider a back-up plan for what to do if an important work situation arises. Certain expectations and arrangements are done basis your time commitment.
2. Don’t have high expectations about the arrangements or assistance that a non-profit can provide you. They are also in this for impact and not to hand hold us. Volunteering is both challenging and adventure filled as things are planned and done by volunteers.
3. Do not talk or approach media. Direct any question which are media related to the CSR team.
4. Do not use the logo of Glenmark or Glenmark Foundation without the prior approval of the CSR team.
5. Do not raise funds or articles or any form of assistance either individually or as a group for causes related to GIVE.
6. Do not post pictures and updates about beneficiaries on social media channels. Understand and respect their privacy and follow Glenmark’s social Media Policy.
7. Don’t use any form of inappropriate language, attire or behaviour when around beneficiaries.
8. Don’t gift or treat beneficiaries without prior discussion with your coordinators.
9. Don’t indulge in other activities like donations, experience sharing, or other volunteering tasks which are not planned. Staying focused on the pre-planned activity will give you best ROI of the volunteering time.

While volunteering with children

• Use positive reinforcements.
• Do not engage in physical discipline.
• If children show physical affection dissuade them politely, as such acts can be mistaken as child abuse. The company will not be liable for the same and may lead to disciplinary actions.
• When you volunteer, avoid one on one interaction. Spend time with groups of children.
• Do not single out a child an give gifts or special treatments.
• Do not contact any child outside the preview of volunteering.
• Do not give away any personal information, like Phone nos, address, business cards etc to the children or parents or any of the beneficiaries.

Declaration:

Volunteering is out of your free will and is outside Glenmark’s working hours. The time spent volunteering cannot be claimed as over time or compensated as working hours.

You acknowledge that you are in good health to participate in the volunteering activity and don not have any specific aliment which recommends nonperformance of such activity.

Adhere to Glenmark’s gifts and policy and do not accept gifts from the beneficiaries or any third party.

Glenmark is not liable for any damages or injury suffered during the course of the volunteering activity. You perform the activity after understanding the nature and agree for the same of free will.

Glenmark reserves the right to use pictures of the GIVE initiative for its internal and external communication.

Seek written approval from the CSR team when you plan to invite your family or non Glenmark volunteer. The company is not liable for any act undertaken by you, your children/ family member / non Glenmark Employee.
